One more thing that should be pointed out. Not all types of leathers are created equal. Sheepskin or suede are usually softer and more comfortable when new, but don't give you near the protection that cowhide or buffalo leather do. That is crazy to think that such a small article of clothing can protect you from a 60 mph crash. I'm not sure what your take on helmets is but whenever I see someone riding down the road without a helmet I can't help but think "that person is an idiot". It's so dangerous to not wear a helmet, I don't see why someone wouldn't. Also, the law requires to wear seat belts in most states so why isn't it a law to wear a helmet? Just a thought!
